Dr. Angela Harris, D.D.S.
Angela Harris grew up downstate, then fell in love with northern Michigan and joined the LifeSmiles team in 2019. The pace of life, the beauty of the land, and the people immediately made Cadillac feel like home. She and her husband are enjoying life as parents.
Dr. Harris began her journey toward dentistry during her time at Calvin College, when she realized that what she loved most was working with her hands to help others. A semester abroad in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, then opened her eyes to a different way of life, language, and new friends.
After graduation, Dr. Harris entered the DDS program at the University of Michigan and was very active in many organizations. She served as chair of the Honor System Review Committee and worked with faculty members to promote ethical treatment in the clinic system.
With the Hispanic Student Dental Association, she organized teams of students to attend several health fairs each summer to provide screenings for migrant workers. She worked with college students to help prepare them for dental school, and also mentored many students within the dental program.
As a member of the Christian Dental Association, she organized and hosted bible studies and discussions to promote spiritual wellness. She was the treasurer for Xi Psi Phi dental fraternity, an organization that focuses on hospitality, friendship, and camaraderie between students to promote better care for patients. In her final year of the program, she participated in a dental care service trip to Guatemala and also visited the dental school in Guatemala city.
After earning her degree, she went on to complete the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program in Albuquerque at the University of New Mexico. The program included further training on dental emergencies, pediatric care, dental prosthetics, and surgical tooth extractions.
